MCRcodes
Established in 2017, MCRcodes burst onto the scene as the world's first part-time coding bootcamp. Born and raised in Manchester, we had a classroom in the heart of the city, where we taught students face-to-face in the evenings, with many of them studying around their day job.
However, after a year of MCRcodes, we felt a change was needed. We wanted a name that better reflected our roots, and a brand that better reflected our innovative curriculum and expert tutors. So, in 2018, MCRcodes became Manchester Codes. Which might be how you best know us now!

Manchester Codes
In March 2020, we moved to virtual classes, and after positive feedback from our staff and students, we decided to pivot to 100% online delivery. We know how helpful it has been for our staff and students with the additional flexibility. but also to be able to participate in our classes from anywhere in the UK (or the world if you fancy a change of scenery!). It has also prepared our students for the remote work environment now commonplace at many employers. So I suppose, COVID-19, we will say a reluctant thank you for that.

But enough about that, let's talk about our journey from 2017 to this point!
Over the years, we have accomplished an awful lot. We have:

We have really grown over these 5 years, and are so excited for the future. And although we love Manchester Codes and everything the brand resembles, we teach across the country, so it no longer accurately reflects who we are.
So, we did a lot of thinking. We thought about everything Manchester Codes stood for, and how we'd channel that into our new brand. And the name we came up with? Well, you can probably guess...
Over the years, we have accomplished an awful lot. We have:
- 🧑🎓 Taught over 200 students from all over the UK (and some from around the world!)
- 🧑🏫 Helped 22 amazing cohorts of students jumpstart their careers in tech
- 🧑💻 Had students go on to work for companies such as IBM, BAE Systems, and Booking.com
We really couldn't be prouder.
We have really grown over these 5 years, and are so excited for the future. And although we love Manchester Codes and everything the brand resembles, we teach across the country, so it no longer accurately reflects who we are.

Our mission is to support the growth of all people who want to learn, and that is it. We are not numbers-based; we won't pile on a ton of pressure. If you want to succeed, we want to help you. For us, there is no perfection. What matters is an ongoing effort to improve tech education and make it more just and accessible for people regardless of their background.
We are not about extreme kaizen but emphatic improvement.
We are Command Shift.
