BOOTCAMP to Web Development Mastery: Our Journey

Apr 30 / Eloise Watts
Hey! A lot has gone on over here at Command Shift recently, and so we wanted to talk about it, and give ourselves a re-introduction.

So, hi everyone! We’re Command Shift, the original, part-time coding bootcamp. (Proud). For the past 7 years, we’ve been teaching people to code using our top-rated bootcamp model. However, this month we announced our brand new course: Web Development Mastery.

We figured there might be a couple of questions about why we did this, and what our new course is about. So let's break it down...

What was BOOTCAMP?

BOOTCAMP was our former coding course. We first launched it back in 2017, with live classes in the heart of Manchester. But then the pandemic hit and we took BOOTCAMP online, and didn’t look back.
We loved BOOTCAMP, but wanted to make learning to code even more accessible. We had the part-time aspect, the online aspect, but there was still more we could do.

Enter Web Development Mastery.

Why did you create Web Development Mastery?

Web Development Mastery was a natural progression from BOOTCAMP. We had mastered our top-rated curriculum; had expert tutors on our team; and had successfully helped so many people career switch into tech.

But we knew that in order for our offering to be even more accessible, we needed to make a significant change to the structure of our course. BOOTCAMP was taught by live lectures twice a week in the evenings, and moved at a set speed, which was great for many but not all.

That’s why we chose to create Web Development Mastery. By recording the lectures from our expert tutors, we were able to give you all the knowledge and insight, but make the course self-led. You can learn at a time and pace that suits you.

What's the difference between BOOTCAMP and Web Development Mastery?

Ok, so the main difference: BOOTCAMP was live, Web Development is recorded and self-led.

You learn the same renowned BOOTCAMP curriculum on Web Development Mastery, but with more flexibility.

On Web Development Mastery, we have a designated learning platform where you learn, and a Community page where you can chat with fellow students or ask questions.

You also get your first 14 days of Web Development Mastery for free, as a gift from us to you. This allows you to get a feel for the course, and the environment, to see if it’s for you.

*You can claim your 14 days free trial here by the way 😊
